SiteOwl’s support for multi-lens cameras provides the ability to represent the multiple coverage areas these cameras support. These types of cameras can be visually represented on Plans with their lenses represented as individual Secondary Devices. Since each lens of the camera is a separate Device, each lens supports all of the standard Device capabilities, including Coverage Area, Installation/Operational Status, photos, and inclusion in the Parts List.

Adding a Camera with Multiple Lenses
To represent a multi-lens camera on a Plan, follow these steps:
- Add a Camera to your SiteOwl Plan as a Primary Device. Note: There’s no need to enable the Coverage Area option for this Device since you’ll be configuring individual Lenses in the next step.
- Add a Lens Device as a Secondary to the Primary Camera Device.
- Enable the Coverage Area option for the Lens and set its Direction, Angle and Range. Add a Part Number for the Lens and, optionally, select a Custom Color to represent this Lens.
-
Repeat Step 3 for each Lens to be represented.
Using different colors for each Lens Device can help to visually differentiate them. Additionally, using a naming convention based on the field of view can help Technicians and others easily identify each Lens (e.g., East, West Parking Lot, Hallway North).
Your completed Device Pin may look similar to this example:
Editing the Coverage Areas of a Multi-Lens Camera
To adjust the Coverage Area of a Secondary Lens, select the Primary Camera. A list of the Camera’s Secondary Devices, including the Lenses you added, will be displayed.
When you select the Lens that you want to modify, its Coverage Area will be highlighted and the edit controls will be displayed.Repeat these steps for each of the Lenses you want to modify.
Note: If the list of Secondary Devices is in the way, you can close it by clicking the X at the top right. To re-open it, click the Primary Camera Device again.Adding Non-Modular Cameras with Multiple Lenses
If a multi-lens Camera includes lenses which can’t be removed, meaning the lenses aren’t modular, you will still represent each Coverage Area by adding individual Lens Devices as Secondaries to the Primary Camera Device as above. However, you’ll want to take the following additional steps:
1. Change the Installation Status of each Lens Device to Installed. The Primary Device’s Installation Status will reflect the status as a whole.
2. Change the Operational Status of each Lens Device to Operational. The Primary Device’s Operational Status will reflect the status as a whole.3. Set the Part Number of each Lens Device to indicate that it is included with the Camera when shown in places like the Parts List. (e.g., Pre-installed Lens).
