Every Building in SiteOwl needs at least one Plan, whether that's an uploaded floor plan image or a blank canvas you build out yourself.
In this article, you'll learn how to upload a Plan to a Building — either as part of creating a new Site (see How to Create a New Site) or when adding another Plan to a Building that already exists.
Uploading a Plan
- Select your Headquarters and Account. Click the account dropdown at the top center of the screen and choose the account you want to work in.
- Go to Sites in the left-hand menu bar.
- Click + Add Plans in the top-right corner.
- Select the Site and Building you want to add a Plan to.
- If either doesn't exist yet, see How to Create a New Site.
- If either doesn't exist yet, see How to Create a New Site.
- Add your Plan. Once a Building is selected, you have two options:
- Upload an image — drag and drop a PDF, PNG, or JPG (up to 10MB) into the upload area. Multi-page PDFs are automatically split into individual Plans.
- Add a blank plan — choose a shape (Square, Wide Rectangle, or Tall Rectangle) to start from scratch if you don't have a Plan image yet.
- Click Save. You'll see a "Plan added successfully" confirmation at the top of your screen, and your new Plan will be ready to use.
A Few Things to Know
- Plan images are capped at 10MB — if your file is larger, you'll need to compress it before uploading.
- Don't worry about picking the "perfect" shape for a blank plan. You can swap in a real image later.
