Exercise: Managing Projects

In this Exercise, you'll practice what you learned in the Managing Projects in SiteOwl course.

If you haven't completed the course, first launch it here Managing Projects in SiteOwl, then proceed with the Exercise.

Task 1: Create a new Design Project for an Account

An Account has hired you to install a series of cameras at their Main Office location. You've already created the account and their location information has been established in the Plan Library. You're ready to create a new Design Project that can be presented to them for approval. 

Idea

Need help? Refer to Lesson 2 of the Managing Projects course.
Steps: 
  1. From the Headquarters drop-down, select the Training or Sandbox Account, then go to the Design Projects menu option.
  2. Create the new Project. Use your Last Name in the Project name, ex. Allen's Camera Project.
  3. Add the Main Office Plan to the Project. This is the Plan you uploaded to the Plan Library when completing the Plan Library Exercise. 
Check Your Work:
After completing the steps, confirm that the new Project is shown in the Account's Design Projects list and includes the Main Office Plan. 
Your completed work should appear similar to this example: 


Task 2: Update the Project's Information

Your Design Project is underway and you'd like to assign a Designer and a Target Start Date.

Steps: 
  1. From the Project Card, click the Information link. 
  2. Add a Designer (yourself or another User) and a Target Start Date.
  3. Save your changes. 
Check Your Work:
After completing the steps, confirm that the Project Card displays the Designer you assigned.

Task 3: Add a Plan to the Project

The Account has decided they would like to include their Warehouse Building in this Project. The Warehouse Plan is already in the Plan Library.

Steps: 
  1. From the Project Card, click the Information link.
  2. Go to the Plans tab and add the Warehouse Plan.  
Check Your Work:
After completing the steps, confirm that the Warehouse Plan is shown on the Project's Status tab. 
Your completed work should appear similar to this example:
 
Also confirm that the Project Card now displays 2 Plans as expected.
